Reconsider Baby

Go Back

Reconsider Baby

Words & Music by Lowell Fulsom

Lyrics:

Well so long
Oh how I hate to see you go
Yes so long
Oh how I hate to see you go
Well the way that I will miss you
I guess you'll never know

We've been together so long
To have to separate this way
We've been together so long
To have to separate this way
Well I'm gonna let you go ahead on baby
But let you come back home some day

Play the blues boys, play the blues
One more time

You said you once had loved me
But now I guess you've changed your mind
You said you once had loved me
But now I guess you've changed your mind
Why don't you reconsider baby
Give yourself just a little more time

First album:

RCA LSP-2231, 1960, Elvis Is Back

First recorded:

Studio Session for RCA RCA Studio B, Nashville, April 4, 1960

More info:

Reconsider Baby was written and recorded by Lowell Fulson in late 1953. His recording (Checker 804) reached #3 on Billboard's rhythm & blues chart in 1954.

Elvis recorded Reconsider Baby on April 4, 1960, at RCA's Nashville studios. For years, his performance at the Bloch Arena in Honolulu in March 25, 1961, has appeared on bootleg albums. Finally, in 1980, RCA released the live recording on the Elvis Aron Presley boxed set. Originally, a live afternoon performance of the song at Madison Square Garden on June 10, 1972, was scheduled for the 1973 Elvis (APL1-0283) LP, but was finally deleted. The performance, which was filed by RCA as "A Blues Jam", later appeared on Elvis - A Legendary Performer, Volume 4.
