Lyrics:

Don't, don't, that's what you say
Each time that I hold you this way,
When I feel like this and I want to hold you,
Baby, don't say don't.

Don't, don't leave my embrace
For here in my arms is your place
When the night grows cold and I want to hold you,
Baby, don't say don't.

If you think that this is just a game
I'm playing
If you think that I don't mean
Ev'ry word I'm saying
Don't, don't, don't, don't,
Don't feel that way
I'm your love and yours I will stay

This you can believe
I will never leave you
Heave knows I won't
Baby, don't say don't

First album:

RCA 20-7150, 1958, Don't / I Beg of You

First recorded:

Studio Session For RCA Radio Recorders, Hollywood, California, September 6, 1957

More info:
Don't was recorded on September 6, 1957, at Radio Recorders, just after Elvis had finished recording Silent Night. This was the first session that featured a female voice (Millie Kirkham). Twenty-six takes were recorded; take #7 was the one released. Reportedly, the last take was taped with the studio lights turned off and Elvis lying on the floor. Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller wrote Don't at Elvis's request. The single release of Don't replaced the Sillhouettes' Get A Job at Number One on the Top 100 chart. After one week at the top, it was replaced by the Champs' Tequilla. Don't spent a total of 20 weeks on the Top 100 chart. It peaked at #2 on the Country Best-Seller chart and #4 on the rhythm and blues chart. Advance orders for the record were over a million.
